Set-up
If possible, have your learner seated on the floor, with back resting against a wall.
Modeling
Sit next to your learner. You may need to start with guiding your leaner's hands to complete each step. If using it on an adult foot, shift green to the side (as shown in How-To Video)
Take Breaks
Notice your learner becoming fatigued or frustrated? Take a break and get creative! Crab walks, jumping jacks, and water breaks are all effective brain breaks.
Practice
Practice each step until the learner can do it all by his or herself. Then move on to the next step.
Carry Over
Once your learner has mastered The Learning Lace, move on to the everyday shoe they wear. Many learners find it helpful to use the rhyme and visualize the colors as they carry over the new skills. They'll be shoe tying in no time!
